Technology 5
Using the workstation Computer Lab, this course introduces students to basic applications and the school's network. Students learn the basics of applications such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word by completing projects tied to their core curriculum. Students gain research skills using the Internet for class projects and are trained in basic netiquette (online safety and courtesy). Students work regularly on keyboarding skills, speed, and accuracy.
Technology 6
Technology 6 builds upon the foundations set in Technology 5. Students gain intermediate skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. In the first quarter this course is linked to the Library curriculum; students learn to evaluate websites as they conduct library-related research assignments. They use Macromedia Dreamweaver to learn rudimentary web design and create their own websites documenting their research assignments. Throughout the year different courses incorporate technology projects into their curricula; students use class time to conduct online research, to analyze data, and to develop their presentations. Students continue improving their typing accuracy and speed.

Technology 7
Technology 7 builds upon previously learned tech skills, but focuses on applying these skills to the study of Life Science and to researching and preparing projects for the Middle School Science Fair. Other courses continue to assign technology-related projects and, throughout the year, students spend time in class working on presentation, composition, and research assignments for their English, history, language, and religion classes. Students continue working on their typing skills.
Technology 8
The Technology 8 curriculum is divided by semester. In the first semester students use the Internet, print sources, and software applications to develop their Science Fair Projects. In their second semester, students learn about Flash animation using Macromedia Flash. The unit and the year culminate in the development of a Flash animation project that is tied to their History curriculum and the year-end trip to Washington, D.C. Throughout the year students continue to practice and strengthen their typing skills.
