New England Regional AP Art Exhibition
The College Board’s New England Regional Office honored F. Parrish ’12, a Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart Advanced Placement Drawing student. Parrish’s work titled “Crayons” was accepted to the highly selective New England Regional AP Art Exhibition for display from January 31 – February 1, 2012 at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel.
The exhibition, open only to AP students, will feature two-dimensional artwork from students across all five New England states. The two-day New England Regional Forum attracts educators from both the K-12 and the higher education communities. Parrish’s artwork will then move to the New England Regional Office of the College Board on Trapelo Road in Waltham for display through December 2012.
Parrish’s artwork is an 8.5 x 11.5-inch acrylic wash that uses chalk and charcoal. She worked with Newton Country Day five-year AP Art Instructor Mr. Patrick Hadfield for much of her junior year to complete this piece. Acceptance to the AP Art Exhibition is Parrish’s third art award in a year. Her drawing “Old Street” won a Silver Key at the 2011 Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards and she received a Third Place Award for a pastel, crayon, and charcoal drawing at the April 2011 SISAL (Small Independent School Art League) juried art show.
